Best On-Campus Eats: Colloquium Cafe
By Gracie BryantMy favorite part about being a freshman and living on campus was the meal plan. Simply swiping my Carolina Card at Chick-fil-A and not having to think about how much money was in my bank account was the best.
However, having Chick-fil-A all the time can get old very quick. My favorite alternative? Colloquium Café.
Colloquium Café is located just across the pedestrian bridge over Pickens Street, beside the Starbucks on the way to Capstone Residence Hall or Close-Hipp. Colloquium Café offers sandwiches, flatbread pizza, pasta and Açaí bowls. Every station within Colloquium Café has meal swipe options, making it the perfect go-to meal between classes. The cafe also offers a “Made to Order” option at every station to accommodate personal preference and dietary restriction.
My go-to is the Chicken Bacon Melt flatbread at the sandwich station. I would get this sandwich at least once a week because it was so good and helped me feel somewhat healthier than normal! The Chicken Bacon Melt, like most other sandwiches, are a meal swipe and come with a drink and your choice of side (salad, chips, fruit or a fruit cup.)
Colloquium Café also has a patio grill Monday through Thursday that serves burgers, marinated portobello and beef franks.
If you’re looking for on-campus dining with plenty of options and the choice to customize your meal — Colloquium Café is the perfect choice!
