Best Late Night Eats: Cookout
By Caroline HielCook Out is a staple among students and party-goers in Five Points, especially since it is just a short walk away from campus and just up the street from many bars. Any weekend night, you can be sure to see long lines at the take-out windows and many students eating and laughing with friends. Cook Out’s location, paired with its insanely cheap and savory food, make it by far one of the best places to go to satisfy your late-night cravings.
The most popular menu item is the classic Cook Out Tray, in which you can choose a single entree, two sides and a drink. The best part of the Tray: it will only cost you about $6! Or, for just a dollar extra, you can substitute your drink for any one of their 40 fresh milkshakes! You might have trouble deciding which one to get, though! Other popular orders include cajun fries (with or without cheese), hushpuppies, corn dogs, the “Big Double” burger, chili cheese dogs and so much more.
Personally, the chicken quesadilla tray with double chicken quesadilla sides and an Oreo shake just hits differently when I’m craving a late-night snack.
The cheap prices and large portions of food are what really makes Cook Out so unique compared to other fast-food and late-night restaurants. If you’re craving a late-night snack (or maybe a whole meal) and don’t want to break the bank, Cook Out is, for sure, the place to go.
