Best Sorority: Kappa Kappa Gamma
By Sarah FulwiderGreek Village is full of various mansions, each housing different sororities. However, Kappa Kappa Gamma, the first house on the left when entering Greek Village, is truly a home.
520 Lincoln St. is the place Blaire Browne, a member of the pledge class of 2019, has called home for four years now, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Kappa has always felt like home to me. The older girls were such role models to me when I was a newer member, and I’ve also found best friends in my pledge class,” Browne said. “Living in the Kappa house was one of the best experiences, and I wish I could live there forever. There was never a dull moment in the house, and living with 30 girls is the best time.”
KKG provided Blaire with a positive and well-rounded college experience, and the sorority does the same for all its members as well. Its philanthropy is focused on supporting the JED Foundation, which works to prevent suicide among teens and young adults by providing them with support and resources. The chapter’s values include truth, respect, optimism, trailblazing and knowledge.
Outside of their studies, Kappa sisters focus on sisterhood by planning various activities, such as yoga classes, cooking classes, movie nights, spring break trips and more, all of which allow its members to find ways to make a group of women that is over 300 feel like a close-knit family. KKG strives to support each other through these established bonds through developmental opportunities, giving back to the community through service and embracing the sorority’s core values.
